Very Fine George IV Breakfront Bookcase

Very fine George IV mahogany breakfront bookcase having molded cornice with flame grain panels over glazed doors, the two center doors with Gothic astragal glazing over three drawers, the center with butler's secretary drawer over cupboard doors, the central doors concealing drawers fitted with campaign pulls, the whole very finely constructed and using the choicest veneers and timber, retaining original hardware including the turned wood knobs with brass bezels - a feature we have never seen before - and possessing good rich color and patination. Although not stamped or labeled, this piece has features found on furniture by Gillows of Lancashire and is certainly of the same quality as much of the firm's best work.
