Gouache colorée abstraite par Gio Colucci
Gio Colucci, peintre, sculpteur, céramiste, est né à Florence, en Italie, en 1892. En 1911, il s'installe à Paris pour étudier l'architecture à l'école des Beaux-Arts. Colucci s'installe au Caire en 1914 où il travaille comme architecte. En 1917, il abandonne l'architecture et se met à peindre. Il se rend aux États-Unis et rapporte de nombreuses toiles. A son retour à Paris en 1919, Colucci expose à la galerie Allard. En 1921 et 1923, il participe au Salon d'Automne et au Salon des Surindépendants avec Gleizes, Herbin, Duchamp-Villon. Colucci revient à Paris en 1945 et expose ses céramiques à la galerie Christofle. En 1947, il participe au Salon des Décorateurs à Paris, et en 1952, il expose ses céramiques au Musée de Vallauris en Provence. La même année, la Galerie de l'Odéon expose ses sculptures polychromes qui ont une expression totale de liberté. En 1954, Colucci participe au Salon des Indépendants au Musée du Grand Palais où il expose des sculptures et des céramiques. Gio Colucci participe à la troisième Biennale consacrée à la sculpture en 1955 à Anvers en Belgique. En 1956, Colucci fonde, avec Gino Severini, l'École italienne des arts et en 1959, une rétrospective est organisée à la Juster's Gallery de New York ainsi qu'au Musée Rodin de Paris. Une rétrospective de son œuvre est organisée à New York en 1963. Le Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris expose plusieurs sculptures en bois polychromé, des céramiques mais aussi des verres Arcopal peints et collés de Colucci. L'artiste est décédé à Paris en 1974. Rare cabinet en acier soudé polychrome par Paul Evans
Rare cabinet à deux portes en acier soudé polychrome par Paul Evans U.S.A: circa 1972. Cette armoire a été fabriquée à la main par Paul Evans et son assistant. Les portes avant sont fabriquées en soudant des pièces d'acier de forme irrégulière pour créer un motif abstrait, les différentes pièces sont ensuite patinées individuellement avec des acides et des feuilles d'or pour obtenir une riche mosaïque polychrome. La caisse en bois est recouverte d'un motif patchwork en cuivre patiné, le dessus est incrusté d'une ardoise noire. Provenance : Collection privée Chicago

Set of Six Georgian Hall Chairs
Fine set of six George III period mahogany hall chairs, the shield shaped backs with inset painted heraldic devices, on plank seats, the trestle bases with arched silhouette feet joined by cross brace, the whole with good rich color and patination. The design for these English hall chairs was derived from the Italian renaissance Sgabello chairs, which were occasionally brought back from Italy by gentlefolk returning from their grand tours.

Rare and important carved mahogany Empire Period armchair by Jacob Desmalter, France circa 1810, of neoclassical form inspired by the design of Percier et Fontaine, architects to the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, the armrests beautifully carved with leopards heads and torso, the front legs ending in carved paw feet. Attributed to Jacob Desmalter. France, circa 1800. Provenance: The front under railing stencilled “Raincy” period paper labels hand written: Mrs Duque Orlean, Grand Salon, Palais Royal. This chair was part of a large salon suite (this one is number 45) belonging to King Louis Philippe - Duke of Orléans - the last king of France. An almost identical model was known to be part of the collection of Molly de Balkany who had an important collection of Empire furniture. Sister of Robert De Balkany - a real estate mogul -and once married to Marie Gabrielle de Savoie - daughter of the last king of Italy. seat hight 17 in.
