newPair of "Niagara" Walnut Armchairs by Maurice Dufrène
Pair of "Niagara" walnut armchairs by Maurice Dufrène with stepped front uprights forming a waterfall motif. The "Niagara" armchair, designed by Maurice Dufrène (1876–1955) circa 1929, is one of the most emblematic models of French Art Deco period. The stepped front uprights, evoking a stylized waterfall, as well as the lateral grooves adorned with stems and scrolls, reflect the search for a subtle balance between decoration and structure, typical of the Art Deco style .
