France, c. 1960 Isabelle Ferlay (1917-2009) and Frédérique Bourguet (1925-1977) met in Paris before establishing the Les Argonautes workshop in Vallauris in 1953. Specializing in elegant utilitarian ceramics, they crafted pieces ranging from beautiful mirrors to decorative plates, primarily using red clay from Vallauris in the 1960s. Transitioning to ash-glazed stoneware, their production continued until Bourguet's passing in 1977, leading to the closure of the workshop. Provenance: Magen H Gallery, New York | Private Collection
