Exceedingly rare early 18th century English colonial Macassar ebony diminutive bureau bookcase with hexagonal oyster veneered doors, lids and drawer fronts, the sides and secondary timbers all in solid streaky ebony having rich patination, The upper section with two arched mirror doors concealing two adjustable shelves, a row of pigeon holes and two drawers, over single candle slide, the lower section with stepped interior, further pigeon holes and sliding well, over two short and two long drawers and standing on bracket base. India or Sri Lanka: circa 1720

Rare and Important Orientalist Corner Cabinet by Carlo Bugatti
Important and rare cabinet by Carlo Bugatti, (1856-1940) . This exceptional cabinet of asymmetrical design is made of intricately carved and ebonized walnut inlaid with pewter, bone and copper, partially covered with parchment. It is fitted with drawers, shelves and multiple display cabinets.The central section features three orientalist scenes ink on vellum .Carlo Bugatti was a famous designer active at the turn of the century. His pieces are rare and highly prized. He was the father of Rembrandt Bugatti who was a renowned sculptor, his work is also highly valuable and very rare since he died at 32. Edition Norma, France: 1996. p.129-133-134 This cabinet was commissioned for the Ministre de L’Agriculture of France Georges Monnet in 1936 by fellow ministers Léon Blum ,Vincent Auriol and others at the occasion of the birth of his child. The ministers all signed their names on the door of the cabinet.
